Wendy Chapkis Ph.D., Professor of Women and Gender Studies and Sociology, Univ. of Southern Maine, author of Live Sex Acts: Women Performing Erotic Labor (1997) Routledge – Speaking in a plenary at the US National Women’s Studies Association, Chapkis explores the ideological gulf between pro-prostitution and abolitionist strains of feminism, expresses concern over both sides’ potential alliances with anti-woman forces, and calls for a nuanced view of a complex issue and solidarity in all possible areas of any agreement.
